What is the purpose of the office?

The Executive Office of the Governor exercises the highest level of executive authority—informing the Legislature on the conditions of the state, directing executive programs and program responses to solving problems and implementing legislative intent, overseeing state agencies, and participating in Cabinet functions.

What services and programs are administered by the executive office?

The role of the executive office is to provide general services that support the Governor in meeting his responsibilities by assisting with the formulation of goals and policies, administering the executive planning and budgeting functions, and assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of state agencies and programs.

In addition to these services, the executive office also houses the Division of Emergency Management, which plans for and responds to both natural and man-made disasters.

Updates

Statewide Office of Resilience. The 2022 Legislature enacted Ch. 2022-89, Laws of Florida, which establishes the Statewide Office of Resilience within the executive office to review all flood resilience and mitigation activities in the state, and coordinate flood resilience and mitigation efforts with federal, state, and local governmental entities and other stakeholders. The office will be headed by a chief resilience officer who is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Governor.
