What is the purpose of the division?

The Division of Workforce Services partners with CareerSource Florida and the state's 24 Local Workforce Development Boards to strengthen Florida's business climate by supporting employers and helping Floridians gain employment, remain employed, and advance their careers. The division administers the Reemployment Assistance and Workforce Development programs.

What are the services of the division?

The division's services include
  • providing support functions to the workforce development system, including dissemination of workforce program information, guidance, training, and technical assistance; program monitoring; state and federal performance reporting; management of workforce contracts, grants and financial systems; data tracking; and emergency operations;
  • implementing the state's reemployment assistance programs; and
  • maintaining labor market information.

Updates

Step Into Success Workforce Education and Internship Pilot Program. The 2023 Legislature enacted Ch. 2023-255, Laws of Floridawhichestablishes a three year pilot program administered by the Department of Children and Families. The program includes an independent living professionalism and workforce education component, and for youth that complete that component, an onsite workforce training internship component that uses employees of participating organizations as mentors. The purpose of the program is to assist foster youth transitioning to adulthood.
