Report Summary

The Department of Revenue is responsible for administering Florida's Child Support Enforcement Program. Florida's Child support Enforcement Program serves over one million children by assisting in the establishment, collection and enforcement of orders to pay child support. Program performance can be improved while reducing costs to taxpayers by focusing on the following three areas:

  • reducing reliance on the state general revenue fund by maximizing use of all available federal funding sources and recouping court assessed administrative expenses from non-custodial parents,
  • identifying and implementing best practices to improve the process for establishing and enforcing child support orders, and
  • placing greater emphasis on promoting voluntary compliance with child support orders by providing training and education to non-custodial parents who are unable to pay or do not fully understand the process.
